Lak door Tijn
Tijn, a 6-year old boy became known in the Netherlands by raising money for the Red Cross by painting nails. For Tijn himself, it was too late, he had brainstem cancer and 0% chance of survival. This little hero wanted to give kids like him a chance at a longer life. A machine existed that could prolong the life of brainstem cancer patients. Only, it was expensive.
So we made Tijn president of his own nail polish company: Lak. door Tijn (translated: Nail Polish by Tijn). We coupled this idea with a crowdfunding campaign. On the website, lakdoortijn.nl people could buy a bottle of Tijn’s nail polish for 10 euros and became co-financier of the Convection-Enhanced-Delivery-machine. In the campaign film, Tijn calls out to the Netherlands to help him reach his goal.
The biggest award we ever won. We raised 1,283,494.74 euros for the fight against brain stem cancer. With the collected money, the Semmy Foundation was able to buy a Convection-Enhanced-Delivery-machine. Giving young kids with brain cancer a chance.
