The Periscope burglar
Did you know a burglar’s favourite season is summer? Obviously! who doesn’t love summer? What people don’t know is that for burglars it’s a big bonus season. People are on holidays, spend their time outside of the house and when they go for a quick errand, they often don’t properly lock up the house. Nationale-Nederlanden - the country’s favourite insurance company - wanted to spread awareness of the riskof burglars during summer (and sell their home insurance while they’re at it).
That’s why they staged a live burglary and broadcasted it live through Periscope, the Twitter-owned live-streaming video app. The burglar broke into the home, showed the public through Periscope how easy it is to do so and that burglars don’t skip items with emotional value such as piggybanks and old silver jewellery with hardly any value.
